Options For Giving

"If you always give, you will always have." - Chinese proverb

Monthly Giving

Recurring gifts are an easy way for you to make a positive impact on the local  community. Becoming a monthly, quarterly, or annual donor assures that Distant Hill will be able to continue to inspire children and adults, no matter their ability, to cultivate an intimate connection to the natural world

A regular, ongoing stream of revenue is vital to helping us fulfill our mission.

You can help by become a sustaining member of Distant Hill with a gift of as little as $5 per month.

Our monthly, quarterly, and annual donors are critical to our efforts, and we greatly appreciate your generosity.

Thank you in advance!

With gratitude,

Qualified Charitable Deductions (QCD) from an IRA

A Tax-wise Giving Strategy

If you hold an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) you are required to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) each year beginning at age 72½, even if you don’t need or want the funds. That same required minimum distribution increases your total taxable income in the year it is distributed.

But if you are over 72½, you can gift funds from your IRA at a tax savings.*

Here’s how it works:

  • Your gift must be transferred directly from your IRA account to Friends of Distant Hill or any qualified charity.
  • Your gift is considered a transfer of funds from your IRA to Distant Hill and does not increase your taxable income for the year.
  • You may transfer up to a total of $100,000 per year for an individual, or $200,000 for a married couple.
  • You can support multiple charities, as long as the sum of your yearly distributions is within the $100,000 / $200,000 limits.
  • Because QCDs (also called IRA charitable distributions or IRA charitable rollovers) don’t increase taxable income, both higher tax rates and phaseouts of certain tax deductions can be avoided.

* Please seek advice from your financial advisor regarding the tax implications of your gift.

Matching Gifts

Many employers offer to match personal donations to your favorite charities. Simply ask your employer if this is an option. And it may not matter if you are currently an employee or retired!

It’s a great way to double your gift, and help Distant Hill realize its mission.
